The Somnambulant Tarot

The Somnambulant Tarot is a unique, surreal, abstract re-imagining of the Rider-Waite-Smith Tarot deck.

Tarot is a tool. It is a diagram. It is a portal.

It is a roadmap of reality and a doorway to the inner-psyche. My teacher, Terry Iocuzzo, refers to the tarot as a book without binding, "The Living Tarot." It is a projection of our inner mind and a mirror of the external world.

This deck is 100% hand-drawn and human-made. Each of the cards reflects my personal journey with understanding and connecting with the tarot. The themes, imagery, and concepts of this deck evolved from my daily creative practice and through my study of the tarot. The result is a beautiful collection of visionary artwork that will speak to collectors, practitioners, and students of the tarot.

The Cards

The Cards

The artwork in The Somnambulant Tarot represents my unique style and perspective. The images are illustrative with an abstract and surreal edge. Each drawing is intensely and intentionally crafted to evoke symbolism and depth in a meaningful and profound way.

The deck is inspired by the 1909 tarot deck from Pamela Colman Smith and Arthur Edward Waite. However, the individual meanings of the cards are heavily influenced by my own philosophy and spirituality.

Each element of every drawing is intentional. The subjects, the poses, their items, their actions, the elements in the scene, the environment, the time of day (indicated by the celestial bodies) all contribute to interpreting the meaning of the card. In this way, readers and querents have an ample amount of imagery to work with when they use the deck.
